WORKING WITH RECRUITERS

Changing jobs is one of the top three critical life changes that a person will go through. A recruiter can help to ease the transition, assist with finding the right opportunity and provide guidance throughout the process. The list below will help in selecting a recruiter to work with, as well as assist with building a successful relationship with your recruiter.

  1. SELECTION . Select a recruiter that has the power to open doors for the opportunity you desire. It is best to ask the recruiter about their prior working relationship with the company. Since an interviewing cycle can last from seven days to 2 months, we also recommend working with a recruiter that you are comfortable with.

  2. COMMUNICATION . Keep your recruiter abreast of all changes. This includes updating your recruiter on interview times, providing feedback on interviews and changes to your schedules, or alerting them to the proximity of an offer with another company. The more a recruiter knows, the more they can assist with moving things in the right direction.

  3. LIMITATIONS . Companies want your attention and focus, so do recruiters. It is also difficult to balance and schedule interviews when you are interviewing too many places. Your career search should be targeted to the few companies you really desire. We recommend first limiting your search to the top 2 to 3 companies that can give you your "dream" job, and then based on those results, selecting another 2 or 3 positions. In doing this, you should limit the amount of recruiters you work with.

  4. HONESTY. It is best to be open and honest with all parties. Leaving out information can only hamper your pending offer. Be open about information as it pertains to your salary requirements, background and employment history. Once the information is relayed, the recruiter can assist in providing the information to the company.

  5. CLOSING THE RELATIONSHIP. If a situation arises where you can no longer continue the job search with a particular recruiter, it is best to alert the recruiter as soon as possible. Good recruiters are always on the lookout for a candidate's ideal job, and is continuously trying to market the candidate to top employers. If you update the recruiter that you are off the market, then the recruiter can in turn update any potential employers and end on a positive note where you will be able to reopen the opportunity at a later date.
By using a recruiter with a proven track record you are ensured that your resume gets infront of the right hiring authorities faster.  You gain the competitive edge and you solidify your chances of getting the position. As a candidate you have one chance to make the right impression and the team at Pioneer takes pleasure in seeing you shine.
